Landmark Restaurant: Burgers & a vista
May 9, 2010
If you find yourself in the Columbus circle area and you're craving a burger, then head right over to Landmark Restaurant.
Not only will you have a great burger with fries ($15) but you will enjoy a stunning view of Central Park if you are lucky enough to secure one of the window tables.
Other options for lunch include lamb meatballs with tomatoes, whipped ricotta, & mint, mussels ($17 for a small or $26 for a large with fries), and a grilled chicken sandwich with roasted potatoes, caramelized onions, and smoked mozzarella ciabatta ($15).
Dinner entrees are pricey. They include grilled salmon, with fennel, tomato, black olives & chorizo and Israeli couscous ($27), grilled lamb chops watercress & lemon ($33), and filet mignon ($37).
Every day is a different pasta special. For example, Monday's special was rigatoni alla genovese and Tuesday's special was spaghetti alla carbonara. They offer half and full portions.
Salad choices include: caesar ($11) with the option of tuna/salmon or chicken ($16), chopped salad with celery, cucumber, hearts of palm & beets. If you're craving just a simple salad, get the the mixed field greens salad with sherry vinaigrette ($9).
If you want quiet though, it's not the place for you. It's usually crowded with kids and baby carriages. Go early evening around 5 if you are coming here for a work meeting.
If you do have kids, it's particularly good because they have a kid's menu with choices like fruit salad, celery & carrot sticks with hummus & pita ($7), grilled cheese on whole wheat bread ($6) and chicken fingers ($8).
Another perk is wi-fi which is a plus if you need to get on the Internet.
The desserts are adorable because they are small. Choices include creme brulee, blueberry crumble, lemon tart, chocolate mousse, tiramisu, and nutella eclair ($4 for one and $16 for one of each). Ice creme (vanilla, coffee, milk chocolate, mint chocolate chip, hazelnut) and sorbet (coconut, apple and lemon) comes on a delicious cone.
HelloNewYorkCity Tip: One of the best parts of Landmark is the sweet caramel candles they give you at the end of your meal.
