Bouchon Bakery

May 10, 2010

Bouchon Bakery is a cute little cafe right in the middle of the Time Warner center on the 3rd floor.

The cafe which only seats 60 people, overlooks the park.

It's perfect for a light lunch or early dinner. Salads include bibbs lettuce salad as well as the watercress endive salad, made with watercress leaves, red and white Belgian endive, candied walnuts, Roquefort cheese and Fuji apples, dressed with a walnut vinaigrette.

Instead of your traditional peanut butter and jelly sandwich, try the simple yet decadent sandwich that combines cashew puree with seasonal jam on a soft and crunchy brioche.

For a decadent choice, try the chocolate and coffee eclairs. A sweet chocolate or coffee icing tops the éclair and enriches the filling.

The muffins are particularly delicious especially the banana nut one. It actually tastes more like you’re eating a piece of cake than a muffin. For a real dessert, try the lemon tart or the chocolate tart.  The ?lemon tart has a lemon custard, which is held by the pinenut crust and topped with an airy meringue. If you really want your mouth to water, try the moist chocolate bouchon, which is named for its shape, and resembles a cork. They are baked with chocolate chips in the batter and then dusted with confectioner's sugar. Or if you just want to take some bread home for dinner, try the classic Parisian baguette, which is shaped to resemble a wheat stalk. Or the herb roasted garlic loaf, a crusty, dense loaf with a mild sour flavor. This one goes particularly good with Soft rind cheeses.

Don't leave without something for your pets. Pet treats include biscuits, enriched with foie gras, chicken stock and diced bacon, are decadent and delicious.

They don't take reservations so don't come at peak times if you want to get a table.
