Lime Jungle: Delicious Mexican food in Hell's Kitchen
May 13, 2010
For some quick delicious Mexican food in Hell's Kitchen, try Lime Jungle.
The tables are right on top of each other, which can be annoying if you want privacy but if you're with a group of friends for Happy hour, it is fine.
Enjoy lots of fun appetizers including chips and homemade guacamole ($5.50), corn on the cob buttered with cotija cheese ($2.75) and chips and salsa ($2.99). Also, if you're a salsa fan, you're going to be in heaven at the unlimited salsa bar.
Vegetarians will be happy with the "The Vegetarian," a flour tortilla stuffed with beans, grilled onions, and bell peppers, shredded jack and cheddar cheese, with rice and guacamole ($7.50) or they can get the veggie taco-- a taco shell filled with black beans, guacamole, grilled bell peppers and onions, shredded lettuce, pico de gallo and sour cream ($3.25).
Seafood eaters will enjoy the shrimp taco served with grilled shrimp, jack and cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, pico de gallo and sour cream ($4.25).
If you're really hungry get the nachos served with beans, jalapenos, melted jack and cheddar cheese with fresh lettuce and pico de gallo salsa, sour cream ($6.95) and add chicken, steak or ground beef for only an extra $1.99.
On a cold day, order the sizzling fajitas with chicken, grilled onions, peppers, melted jack and cheddar cheese, pico de gallo, and sour cream, served with hot tortillas ($10.95).
Not that hungry? Just get a small taco ($2.99)
For lighter entrees try the alba salad, served with avocado, tomato, iceberg lettuce, shredded jack and cheddar cheese, citrus and cilantro dressing ($5.99) or the Santa Anna salad, served with marinated grilled chicken on a bed of fresh greens, with bacon bits, corn, beans, tomatoes, carrots, with a side of chipotle-honey-lime dressing with tortilla strips ($5.99).
Desserts include the traditional dessert empanadas, named after the Spanish verb, empanar, which means to coat or wrap in bread. Choices include caramel and cheese, guava and cheese, and apple and cinnamon ($3).
Delivery is also available but if you're really hungry, it’s best just to go to the restaurant.
