Cafe Cluny: Trendy restaurant in the heart of West Village
May 30, 2010
Cafe Cluny will draw you in with its ambience and service. The West village restaurant is perfect for a date or a gathering of small group of friends.
You will feel like you're entering your friend's living room more than a restaurant. It's a very calming atmosphere with its light hues of soft beige, cream and wood.
The restaurant’s name alludes to a museum in Paris and also to a Parisian Metro station next to the Odéon stop. The restaurant is the brain child of Lynn Wagenknecht, Judi Wong, and Steven Abramowitz — the team behind the trendy Odeon and the French restaurant, Cafe Luxembourg.
It's perfect for a luxurious relaxing breakfast. Enjoy omelets with your choice of fine herbs, cheese or Spinach. If you really enjoy the granola, take some home with you--a 16 oz bag is $10. For those health nuts, enjoy the steal cut oatmeal.
Healthy Brunch options include a tuna burger, shrimp salad, or two organic eggs.
Sit at the bar and enjoy some of the many wine choice or a cocktail like, "The Cluny," made with Ketel one vodka, lemon juice and ginger or the, "Sunset On Hudson", made with patron silver, cointreau & blood orange puree.
Enjoy beers from all over the world including Stella Artois Lager (Belgium), Hitachino Nest White Ale (Japan) and Victory "Prima" Pils (Pennsylvania).
Everyone will find something they like for dinner. Try the Cluny hamburger with French fries or the braised short ribs. Pasta lovers will enjoy the homemade Tagliatelle with manilla clams, pancetta, Swiss chard & shallot-white wine broth.
For a light appetizer, try the Yellowtail Sashimi with shaved fennel, red onions, shiso salad, shishito peppers & toasted coriander vinaigrette.
Desserts are especially good, particularly the strawberry rhubarb pie. Other mouth-watering choices include the dark chocolate torte ($8), profiteroles with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, & toasted almonds ($8). Or just enjoy their delicious homemade ice cream. Flavors include strawberry, bookies and cream, butter pecan ($8). In the summer time, there's an ice cream card on the corner of West 12th and West 4th.
HelloMetro Tip: Try the following recommended dishes: Baby beets with goat cheese, scallops with cauliflower purée, roasted cod, monkfish and short ribs.
