The decor is fab, with many hanging Afghan rugs. The visuals are the highlight. The food costs double what it should, especially if it were prepared well. Portions are tiny. The brown rice they advertise is really a non-brown Basmati variety. "Salad" consists of lifeless shredded white and yellow iceberg lettuce, diced tomatoes, a few pieces of onion, and overly bitter lemon/vinegar, oil "dressing." The curried pumpkin was actually interesting, but miniature in portion. I will not return to this mid-town rip-off and advise others to avoid Ariana. Better restaurants that are of the diaspora include Moustache in the village, and Beduin Tent on Atlantic Ave. in Brooklyn.
Actually - never eaten here.

I thought this was a different restaurant when I reviewed it but I then realized I had reviewed the wrong place. Sorry - my bad. Labeled it three stars because the system wouldn't let me leave the star rating blank and I didn't want to skew the results for other ratings.

This is the best Afghan restaurant in NYC. I've been going here for 10 years and the food is always delicious and fresh. I like to order the Vegetarian Combo, with spinach/zucchini/potatoes. It comes with very yummy Afghan bread and salad. And tastes great with cranberry juice. Service is always excellent. I love to take my friends here-- very cozy little place.
see Nassir for service/tell him that Bill and Vicki sent you...

It's a great place for a great inexpensive meal. Local New Yorker always takes me here for all food but the pumpkin appetizer is the best. We always bring in our own wine while we have dinner. The home made rice pudding with pistachio's on the top is melt in your mouth delicious. Everytime I'm in New York I go here for good food. It's so convient to Opera and Broadway but off the track of all the tourist restaurants.
BEST Middle Eastern food!!!Anytime and ALWAYS a must stop for foodies.
