New York City Satanists, Luciferians, LHPers -- dinner meeting in Queens
Location:
Postal code 10001, United States
New York, New York 10001
When: November 19, 2009
Starts at: 7:30 PM
This is not an all day event
Description:
There are now enough of us in Queens that we will now hold regular meetings in Queens as well as in Manhattan. Meetings will be held on the first Thursday of the month, alternating between Manhattan and Queens. For now, both the Queens and Manhattan meetings will just be informal get-togethers for Satanists, Luciferians, "Dark" Pagans, and "Left Hand Path" occultists of all law-abiding kinds, plus open-minded people interested in learning about the many forms of Satanism, Luciferianism, "Dark" Paganism, and LHP occultism. (The organizer is a non-LaVeyan theistic Satanist.) We'll be meeting at a diner in Forest Hills, on Queens Boulevard, near the 71st and Continental Avenue subway station on the E, F, G, and R subway lines. Nearby bus lines include the Q60 and the Q64. We are also near the Forest Hills station on several Long Island Railroad Lines. (From the LIRR station, ask for directions to the subway. We're right next to one of the subway entrances.) Ask a waiter for "Diane Vera's meetup." We will probably be in the FRONT section of the diner (where the tables are). Look for a group of people of whom at least one or two (though probably not all or most) will likely be wearing black shirts and/or point-down pentagrams. (However, since Queens folks tend to be more conservative than Manhattan folks, we ask that people not be TOO eye-catchingly dressed at our Queens meetings.) Newcomers are welcome. Diane Vera, the organizer, will make a point of welcoming all who arrive and encouraging all attendees to tell the rest of us a bit about themselves and their beliefs, to facilitate conversation. Although our meetings are informal, we do aim to have substantive conversation about our beliefs and practices, rather than just random chit chat. Please RSVP as soon as you can, with at least a "maybe" if you can't yet say "yes" or "no." The more people RSVP early, the bigger and better our meetups will be, because a reasonably large number of early RSVP's will let other visitors to this site know that we are indeed a live group where they will actually meet some people. If you RSVP "maybe," we would appreciate it very much if you could then change your RSVP to a "yes" or "no" by no later than at least a few days before the event, so that we can have a better idea how big a table to reserve. DV will be calling the diner to reserve a table two or three days before the event. As we grow bigger, we may eventually begin holding more formal meetings with specific topics for discussion, in addition to the informal social gatherings we are holding now. As our group continues to grow, hopefully some of us can eventually organize congregations that get together for rituals. DV would like to form a local congregation of the Church of Azazel ( http://www.theisticsatanism.com/CoAz/ ). Others may wish to form congregations centered around other paradigms. Diane Vera, the organizer, is a non-LaVeyan theiistic Satanist. She maintains a website on theistic Satanism, including the page Attention, New Yorkers! (for theistic Satanists in and near New York City).
