Description:
Giovanna Bellia La Marca will take you on a guided tour of this storied Italian neighborhood, introducing you to some of the extraordinary butchers, bakers, cheese makers and shop owners, describing typical and exotic ingredients and sharing recipes. This intimate section of the Bronx, justly famous for its food for generations, is the most authentic &147;Little Italy&148; in the city. Watch David Greco as he makes fresh mozzarella and offers the group delectable samples of the different varieties. Savor a delicious lunch at Mike&39;s Deli in the retail market. Visit Borgatti&39;s and see how Mario makes his egg noodles like his Bolognese grandmother did. Stop at the famous Teitel Brothers store. Visit the beautiful Enrico Fermi Cultural Center, and see the current exhibit. Enjoy wonderful shopping during our tour, then gather with the group for espresso or cappuccino and dessert at the Arthur Avenue Café. The class meets at 11 AM in front of Pete&39;s Meat Market, inside the Arthur Avenue Retail Market (2344 Arthur Avenue). Tours run rain or shine. Registration for the walking tours is limited to those age 18+.
