Achievement First Bushwick Charter School Reviews

AFB is a robotic school and with no recess or enough gym time everything is work, work, work and 5 minutes to do anything. Most of the staff like intimidating children and when your child is scared to stand for themselves it tells whats being done in school. Parents this school is good but not all that. 11 months of school mandatory is ridiculous and the hours are way to long for elementary children.

AFB Elementary is awesome! My child is in second grade but in math nand reading she's on a fourth grade level. Her teachers are helpful and dedicated. AFB Middle is good for 'normal' children but not for those with IEPS like my other child. They'e too strict and allow no time for recess or gym. They're not allowed to talk at lunch. It's good for kids with disciplenary problems. Nearly every day I saw a child crying in the hallway. I had to remove myn child so she could receive better services.

I'm really proud of my son level of reading and his overall academics performances. I will recommend achieve first bushwick to any parent that have great intrest in they children's education...

I agree that the school is unsafe and that the admin. Is lacking.Their are constant fights and the way the admin. Handles the situation is very poor. The child that's being bullied gets the same punishment as the bully. That's so unfair..

The school is unsafe and the administration lacks the necessary experience to properly run the school. There are constant fights, name calling and the staff is ill equipped to handle these ongoing issues.

I do not understand why this school does not distribute out any books. Only sheets of paper is given for home work and as a parent that is concern about what my child is learning throughout the day how can i go over any work assignments if the child does not have a note book with notes for review and to review. A flexi friend is not enough.

AF Bushwick is a wonderful school. My daughter started in K, now 6 yrs old she is reading at a 5th grade level.

AFBMS is an amazing school. Their curriculum is rigorous and my daughter has shown a huge amount of intellectual growth over the course of one year. What the principal and teachers are doing at Achievement First is necessary to ensure the closing of the achievement gap. The scholars work above grade level and are being prepared for college. In addition, they are acquiring critical life skills to assist them in and outside of school. For their first middle school class year, the school was lacking in physcial ed and recess time for the scholars. It is important that AF balance their long school day with extracurricular activities to ensure that the scholars do not burn out.

I am not very pleased with the school. It's more like military school. This school is better suited for children with behavior problems. I understand they want the students to be very disciplined but they expect them to act very grown up too fast. They do work during breakfast and they dont have recess. By the time my child gets home, she's burnt out. They are also not equipped to handle students with IEPs. I realize this is their first year in operation, but I dont want my child to lanquish here while they're trying to get their act totally together.

The educators are very concerned about kids academic progress. Not much emphahsis on physical education and recreation.

This Charter school is just great, from the teachers to the working material the scholars get.
