Ross Global Academy Charter School Reviews

'The parents at this school have worked very hard and have fought tooth and nail to keep desirable programs, like art and music, afloat. And of course, the kids are great! Unfortunately, leadership is lacking at this school and the teaching my child received was very uneven. Personal experience with some teaching staff was extremely unprofessional. A small school like this one doesn't afford much choice when teachers aren't meeting your child's need. And the principal is doing very little to weed out those teachers who are just 'biding their time,' while they waste the precious time of the students they are trained professionally to serve and inspire.'

First of all they need to get rid of the principal Ms. Johnson. She does not even know what the children are learning in the classrooms. I took my child out mid year becuase the teacher left in the middle of the school year. I found out how far behind my child's learning skills were when I left. The students are not polite at all. They think and want to be like the mother school out in the Hamptons but they will never get there. Watch how the city test scores will be this year. If you want to send your child to a charter school in the city. Don't come here. This is ridiculas. They should not get any money from the government and sponsors. They do not produce what they should.

My child is very happy that he is attending this charter school, the children are very nice and respectful as well as the teachers. We are pleased with this school.

In RGA my child is not just another number. They understand that when a child feels appreciated they perform better academically. Change is good and if RGA is going through changes it is for the better. This school is about an overall vision of a child and not just about pencil and paper pushing to meet a quota. I am a parent of the RGA School and I will admit that in the beginning it was difficult but if any true NYC parent has battled the NYC public school system they would see that the struggles in RGA charter school are minimal. RGA is an amazing school with an amazing staff and they have an amazing vision for the children who attend there. My daughter came out of an NYC public school where the teachers and staff belittled her, made her feel useless and unteachable. Since bringing my daughter to RGA she has become confident in herself, loves her teachers and the teachers love her, and she finally enjoys going to school in the morning and does her homework independently.

I am a RGA parent from when the school first opened. The school started off with a vision for success; however, it quickly faded. Within one school year, the curriculum was revamped to a curriculum that was complex and non-effective for my son. The Principal is not approachable; she is dogmatic, and defensive. There is a lack of trust between the parents, teachers, and Principal. The vision for Ross Global Academy never materialize. The school needs an overhaul from the Principal to the curriculum.

I agree with the review below. The school looked so good on paper, but the reality is that the school could do much better. My daughter gets homework once a week that is supposed to take her a week to complete, she finishes it in one day. They make them come for saturday school where they are supposed to learn more and all the kids do is play. I am looking for another school for my 2nd grade daughter. There are alot of misbehaved children there. There is no gym or proper lunchroom. The teachers allow the children to play in the mud and take them outside in all kinds of weather. What a mess!

RGA is the worst school in the world. The kids are disrespectful and we have the worst principal. I don't learn much, and the curriculum is so erroneous. The school is not really even a school, it is in the Tweed Court House building. I'm a RGA student, and I definately don't recommend this school.

This school was a big disappointment. My daughter learned nothing. The kindergartners learned more than the upper grades. Everything was lacking in the school: structure, leadership, curriculum, teachers, disciple plan etc. The teachers spend more time disciplining than teaching. My daughter and her friends taught themselves Math. The upper grade kids wore whatever they wanted after parents were ask to buy uniforms. I finally took my daughter out in the middle of April after scrambling around looking for schools. Any school was better than RGA. The kids were disrespectful to teachers, parents and their colleagues. I had to get a private tutor for my daughter, just so she would not repeat 5th grade. The DOE has a big mess call RGA.
