Posted By: student Quality Score: 5 2008-04-20 “I had the best student experience at Assumption. My most memorable years were sixth grade through eighth grade. I had the best teachers. They were strict but fair. They expected nothing less than what they knew I was capable of giving. They were there 100% for me both academically and when I just needed to talk. (I still go back and visit with them as often as I can.) They are devoted both in the classroom, before and after school for extra help, on weekends for dances and fundraisers. I was truly prepared for high school and in many cases I am ahead of others. I know that Assumption has giving me a solid foundation for the future. Hats off to my teachers! This school does not have strong teachers at all in the upper grades. Discipline was non-exsistent. Social problems run rampant at this school and the Principal truly has her hands tied because people threaten with 'pulling out'. This time we got it right! Assumption is a wonderful school! Our principal is amazing! A true professional and dedicated to the school and the children in it. You won't have to look far to find her, she is there greeting the children every morning. The teachers love the school, and it shows. Academics are great, particularly in the upper grades, where there is access to many advanced programs. A STRONG Parents Guild and the Parish truly supports this school. If you visit, you will see order, but also happiness. The order is there out of respect, not intimidation. Assumption stresses Christian values throughout, not only in words, but in actions too. The faculty is caring, the principal is wonderful, academics are the best in the area. Children learn academics AND morals and values are stressed. Principal has control of school, no incidents of any type here. The only negative in my opinion is the facility. It is old, it's runned down, and with no a/c it is unbearably hot in warm weather. But they do try to do all they can with the resources allotted to them. My kids & I just love this school.”
