Our Lady of Grace School Reviews

This school helped me reach my full potential . I went from D's to A's.

School year 2008-2009, my son's class did not finish all chapters in any subject. We are advised that unfinished chapters will be part of next year's program. They collected tution fee for the year to cover the entire text book, not some of it and now.... At least in public schools they finish all the chapters. Now if my child goes from OLG to public school, he will be at a loss as he did not learn all the chapters during the school year. Way to Go OLG, Way to go downhill!!!!

It seems the principal and parish priest only want parents help for money, other donations and special events. When it comes to the classrooms parents are expected to 'mind their own business.' Many teachers seem unhappy and it affects the classrooms, including how children treat each other. There is very little hands-on learning even in the lower grades, just work books and work sheets. Office staff is kind but even the simplest of procedures seems to be disorganized. Many times it seems like the 'right hand' doesn't know what the 'left hand' is doing. Even notes that go home and are signed by the principal are confusing or leave out important information, so parents have to ask the teachers a lot of questions about school events or procedures.

some of the kids are nice but they are rude. they make fun for the most ridiculos reasons. some teachers are ignorant, but the system this year has gotton alot better. OLG Royals lets go

I am disappointed overall with OLG this year. The previous comments are right on. A few of the teachers are wonderful, others barely teach and if you complain they critize you or pick on your child. The principal always sides with the teachers. If your child is having trouble then it must be the child's fault (he/she not paying attention in class). I have a hard time believing the my daughter can go from average to above average in Terra Nova's one year to being below average in all subjects the next. It's the teacher not the student or the parents. The school needs to acknowledge this or they won't be around for much longer as registration is down and there are a LOT of unhappy parents suggesting that they'll give the school one last year (2008-2009) and then look elsewhere. I am one of those parents considering this.

I am extremely disappointed in the school this year. Like was said before it is always the student and parents fault they never think to blame the teachers for the poor skills.

This school was a good school. Now my opinion has changed the classrooms are very crowded . The teachers are very lenient and bottom line it's all about the money ! credit p

WHile this school has some very good teachers. teh overall style of teaching is old school. Some teachers are in a rush to finish the book by the end of the year, and don not explain things properly that need explaining, leaving it up to the parents to reteach lessons, or pay someon to tutor their child in order to pass. In most schools when there is a high failure rate in a particular class most Principals investigate and then correct the problem, not at OLG, it is the child's fault. The only sport is basketball, which is pretty good program, which is run by the parents.

I believe that this school could be a good school but at this time I am not happy with their math curriculum. My daughter/son is in 8th grade and did not do well at all when taking the COOP test into high school because OLG is so behind in math. This is not fair to the children or the parents, they should take away the computer fees and concentrate on getting better books for the children to be at the level they need to be when entering high school.

My daughter graduated from OLG, she fared very well because she was a stellar student. My other daughter was not and she is now in public school doing much better. Most of their teachers are inferior, there was no extra help. It was classmates helping the struggling students. My daughter went from failing 5 classes to a 'B' Student. I would not waste my money sending my children to Our lady of Grace. For a 'Catholic Family' they are very uncaring and ungiving.

Our Lady of Grace's curriculum was ridiculous. I was not prepared to start high school. Teachers didn;t care about the students. They felt that finishing the book was more important than teaching it to the children. The prinicipal needs to learn to be more approachable. The Pastor is great but I believe he does not know exactly what is going on in the school. Teachers and principal made me feel that I could not accomplish anything in life. They insulted me and my homework. Not a good school to send your child to.

At first I was happy with OLG till I realized how poor their curriculumn was. My children weren't learning what they should have. The children don't do well on Terra Nova exams because certain things have not been taught. The school is overcrowded. I wouldn't recommend this school.

Our Lady of Grace is a challenged school. It is overcrowded and does not administer placment tests to incoming students. The administration at times is indifferent, especially with regards to providing information to parents on Terra Nova scores and data on how well OLG fared against other schools. The school needs a curriculum overhaul.

Our Lady of Grace is an excellent school. Spiritually and academically, the school is excellent. The priest and sisters are totally involved with the children. All teachers are excellent and have a deep concern for the children.

We think that Our Lady of Grace is a warming and family togetherness environment type of school. The priest is always involved with the children and the school. As parents we would like to receive more feedback on how the school is doing academically as a whole. Also, The director could be more people friendly rather than intimidate parents approach. We look for more years of good schooling for our children.

I think Our Lady of Grace is a good school. The Pastor is always involved with the children, he is a blessing to the school and parish.I feel that the Principal should be more of a people person, but she does her best to get what is needed for the school. I am very happy that my family is part of the Our Lady of Grace Family.
