The children who graduate from the eight grade have all been accepted into the catholic high schools, many in their honors programs, as well as Bergen Academies. They obviously are doing something right. If you want your kids to get a little discipline and be a little sheltered in a good way, then this is the right school for you. I have attended this school for many years. After graduating, I realized that the world was much bigger and there were much more opportunities in various subjects and majors. This school shelters children in such a degree where young adults cannot go out and do greater things on their own when they reach high school. Moral behavior is strictly enforced and I believe that it is too much a part of the curriculum that it limits the full educational experience of the student. Getting accepted to a good college is essential to one's future work, life, and living. My older children were commended for their verbal skills and proper use of English. My daughter's French teacher said she was the only student who could understand French verbs because she understood grammar. Math and science skills are well-honed. Yet, I am most pleased with the 'life lessons' learned here, the acceptance of self and others, and the diversity at St. John's.
