St. Brigid School Reviews

I would have to disagree with some of the negative posts as to say Ms. Vincent is a very caring and very involved in the childrens academic progress. I had the priviledged of encountering her at Immaculate Conception where she made that school excel along with the teaching staff. Best of all she was a very well organized and caring to a parents concern, whenever a parent had a question or concern she never hesitated to contact you immediatly and work effortlessly with a parent and child to come up with a solution. I must say it is that type of attitude that I miss at ICS. Since the new prinicipal has taken over I don't see that concern or care for the students as well as to the parents. The Principal at ICS is harldy ever available when you call to speak to her regarding your concerns.

WIth our 3 years of experience in the NYC public school system with an older child, I am disappointed by the lack of enrichment in the curriculum as well as the absence of parental involvement. While the current principal may be a veteran, I do not think she has a 21st century vision for the school.

This school is not at all what it seems the bad outways the good. It has potential, but the principal is completely unaware on how to deal with parents. I am in agreement with the previous review. It is her way or the high way. The school lacks parent involvement and is in need of an afterschool program and lacks a active church. Although the school has another church they attend . It is a long long walk. The teachers are all very young and there is no collaberation with senior teachers. As a parent i had to pull my child from the school. I was very unsatisfied. It really is need of a principal who is willing for positive change for her school not for herself.

Disagree w/prior review. And if actually a teacher, then you should not be teaching there in the first place. I am a parent of 2 boys, 1 graduating this year. I am an alumni as well. I have experienced the changes last couple of years. And, I am extremely grateful so far of Ms. Vincent accomplishments. As far as active Church. Our beautiful Church is currently being renovated thanks to the generosity of the beautiful person who donated Millions, and will soon be running again. Upon Ms. Vincents' arrival she arranged St. Emeric's church (close to school, 12th st.)to be active w/the school, where as former principal Ms. Suzanne had St. Malachy's Church on W. 49th St. Although, St. Malachy's is a beautiful church, it was quite distant from the neighborhood. I highly recommend St. Brigid to any parent. Its educationally structured, safe and economical.

If u are looking for a pre-k experience this is not the school. This is the only catholic elementary school that combines the pre-k and the k class together. Enrollment has been very low the last couple of years, and the principal has changed. The principal is Ms. vincent she was the principal at Immaculate for 17 years. She lacks allowing the parents to have a voice. She strict and only runs the school her way. If you are not at agreement with what she feels is needed she will turn on you, Although her heart is in the right place, her ideas are not realistic. At this time there is no active church . The whole catholic experience is too have your children be part of a whole catholic experience. This school has many faults and would never recommend it to any parent. I would recommend 'our Lady of sorrow'.

Both of my children, a boy and a girl, attended this school. It's a great school for children to learn in a safe and structured environment. The level of education is very good, the teachers are very prepared and it feels like being with family. It is also the most economical catholic school in the area. I definitely recommend this school.
