Francis Lewis High School Reviews

I graduated from Francis Lewis High School last year, and I look back at the school, and reminisce about how amazing it was. Full of great people, teachers, and possibilities. The school made me proficient in Japanese, and well rounded for my college years. I'm in debt to Francis Lewis, and I know that no other school is like it!

i am a freshman at francis lewis and i have to say it is an incredible school. the programs are some of the best, the school is number 1 in so many things, debate, law, math, science, it to hard to keep up. first year is a hands on experience ill never forget it. i have to admit at first i thought i would hate it because i wanted to go to townsend harris but move over townsend this school is awesome!

I'm currently going into my junior year at Francis Lewis High School and I find it to be a very good school. It has many opportunities for any kind of career choice you may have. It will help you to succecedd in any way possiable. The school has ajusted well to its overcrowdedness. Its a very safe school with a nice environment and its learning environment is great. Some teachers there are the best teachers I've seen in all my years of going to school.

I am now a junior in Francis Lewis High School and i believe it is an outstanding school. The teachers cannot be any better and the clubs and programs offered are filled with diversity, fun and great lessons. I do not believe that it is overcrowded to an extent that we cannot navigate through classes. I must admit every day you meet more and more people but isn't that preparing us into a world of good communication techniques. This is a school of excellence where everyone is treated equal. Everyone must understand that good and bad people exist everywhere so it is understandable to run into trouble once in a while but if a student starts classes of honors and high academic averages fights between students is zero percent from happening. I guess I'm just saying this to give parents the real idea of what my school is all about:D PERFECT!

My daughter is a sophomore this year and so far we don't have any serious complaints. No doubt the school is overcrowded (but then so is almost every good public school in NYC) but the school has good honors classes and special programs (eg. the Maths & Science Research Program which helps to prepare students for college research work).

My daughter attended this school for 4 years and is now in college. My daughter hated it there. The only thing she liked about it was Ms. Bernstein who guided her and encouraged her through her 4 years.

My child is a freshman at francis lewis high school and he hates it there, he says the environment is the worst he had seen, some of the teachers may be nice, however the children are the worst, my son cannot wat untill he leaves this school.

My child is currently a freshman in francis lewis high school. She enjoys the atmosphere at the school. So many are complaining of the overcrowding which I do not see when I visit. Ever wonder why so many children attend this school? Maybe because it is a good school. The jrotc program is a wonderful program. The adult instructors are phenomenal with the children and they promote education, leadership, positivity, respect, and education. Francis lewis is a wonderful choice for a parent in regards to their child. There are going to be children cutting in all schools, for the most part the children go to class whether they enjoy it or not. My daughter has explained she has a class that to her is boring but because of her involvement in jrotc she knows she has to go to stay active with jrotc. Good.

Francis Lewis High School is a great school, but there is a serious problem with overcrowding and a lot of students there do not want to learn and just hang out with their friends which is distractive. P.S. I am a sophomore at the school.

Great School with great teachers.

Francis Lewis is a school where it either can be a really good experience or a really bad experience. For me it has been particularly bad but only because of the choices i had made. Blame should not just be tossed around to surrounding figures. They might at most be partial to blame but the experience ultimately depends on the choices people make. They can decide to either cut school and choose not to do it and from there everything goes downhill. However they also have the choice to go to class, to do well. The reason why the doors are open and you are free to leave Francis Lewis at any time is because I think in my opinion that the choice is ours. We have to ultimately decide. This school is either really amazing or really bad depending on what choices are made while here in francis lewis.

The quality of academic programs at Francis Lewis High School is excellent. I have never heard of another school with a 'Criminal Investigation' program. I was in this program and I enjoyed it very much. The teacher that created this program (Ms. Grady) is not at Francis Lewis High School anymore, but this pogram remains. Another great program is the AP social studies classes. They are excellent classes with an excellent teacher. Francis Lewis High School pushes their students to their academic best, and I believe that if parents continue to motivate their children like my parents did to me, they can help make 'Franny Lew' the best school in Queens, like Jeffrey Scherr, the principal says on the announcements every morning and afternoon, during 2nd and 9th period.

I have been pleased with the education provided by this school, although the atmoshpere is slowly changing and I think the school is headed for a wrong turn.

The Quality of academic programs are fine. The music, art and sports are o.k. but not the best. Not to much parent involvement.

I had went to francis Lewis from september '00 to June'04. The school is an overcrowded school with few teachers who actually care about their students and I did not graduate when i was supposed to due to lack of guidance. They had blamed it on me but this is not the situation because i now go to a smaller school in upstate New York and have a 90 average compared to my 58 average in francis lewis. i strongly advise not to send your child to this school i know many students who did not graduate because of the guidance department.

My daughter graduated in June of 2003. She came to FLHS in 1999 from a small private school (where everyone knew her name). We found FHLS to be incredibly responsive to all of us, teachers willing to listen & mentor and administration that would go out of their way to help solve problems. I also think that the college advisors were incredible, especially Mrs. Shumsey, who really helped us alot. She is now a sophomore @ SUNY - Buffalo. Carried 18 credits both sememsters of her 1st year & pulled a 3.4 GPA, in addition to working & participating in the social life of the school. I think her time @ FLHS taught her how to succeed in a larger environment, manage her time effectively, remember that teachers are also people (& have lives outside the classroom). For my money, if you are choosing a school, FLHS is the place to go.

Hi, Iam a Freshman going to my Sophomore year. So far I really like my school. It is a very active school. It is spacious and has the prograsm that i desire for my future education. The law program is magnificent, so I heard. I reccomend this school to many people. This school has a new field for all kinds of sports. Alot of programs. I just have to say this school is yhe best. I plan to stay here all 4 years. Personally, I would say Francis Lewis is a very good school.
