Only YMCA after school program excellent .” Posted By: parent Quality Score: decline 2009-06-11 “The other parent was not compleatly wrong I have been in the hallways and heard teachers speaking Russian to students in a regular classroom it made my son feel like it was a code and many of his friends tell me the same thing Please speak English in the classroom if it is not a esl class. There is also truth in the statement that the arts program is 95 % Russian Chorus , music (instruments ) and there is even talk of losing an american teacher in order to hire another Russian teacher for Kindergarden. I have no problems with the russian people in our school but Please do not put them in a prefferential place . The prior post is completely offensive, ignorant and not representative of our school. This country has just elected its first African-American president. To make a comment claiming the superiority of one's nationality of origin in a school that represents a melting pot of children whose countries of origin expand the entire globe is unacceptable. This school offers excellent education in the arts, music, science, language arts, math and computers. Under the current leadership, it has also offered extra-curricular enrichment programs to all upper grade students. My son has consistenty scored above grade level on all his state exams. Every teacher he has had has been a caring professional who contributes to the success of this school. I went to this school from pre-k to fifth grade. In the morning when my alarm clock rang i would get up so fast because i used to love school. Even when i was sick with a sore throat and a fever i would still want to go. Everyday counted. The techers, the activities done to have fun while learning. It was amazing. Most people don't beleive me, but i learned to read and write in kindergarten. Chapter books where easy to read in first grade. I am not russian,but i am so happy that we have a globe progam. Also, we have a violin, chorus, band, and even art clubs that make it even more fun at p.S.200. I was personally in art club.
